 Kino Makoto is a great cook, a good housekeeper, but she is a giant.  It is her unusual size that keeps the boys and friends away.  When she moved to Usagi’s town she had to continue to wear her old school’s uniform because they didn’t have one to fit her.  On her first day of school everyone was afraid to go near her .  Except for Usagi.  She approached her in interest of Makoto’s great lunch.  Usagi is very driven by food.  Even before Makoto became a Senshi she was very strong and could usually take care of herself.  She first became a Senshi when Zoicite was up to no good.  Makoto was attacked and there Luna was when the symbol of Jupiter appeared on her forehead.  She received her transformation stick in the heat of battle and with the words, “Jupiter Power, Make Up!”  She transforms into Sailor Jupiter.  She took to being a Senshi like a duck takes to water.  She blasted the Youma right away and Sailor Moon finished it off.

Makoto tries to make up for her large stature by being interested in many girly things such as cooking and cleaning.  Her biggest dreams are to own a flower shop and be a housewife.  One of the things known about her past life is that she was a graceful ice skater.  She demonstrates this in an ice skating episode.  Despite her great strength, Makoto has her sad side too.  Sadly she lives alone in her apartment because her parents died in a airplane crash, which explains her fear of airplanes.  But she doesn’t let this get her down.  She is very outgoing, especially when it comes to boys.  She will go after anyone that reminds her of her last boyfriend who broke up with her because she was too tall.  This is the main reason she is so sensitive about her height.  This boy-craziness has caused her problems with finding a true love.  As a Senshi she is physically the strongest.  She is the one who would rather fight first ask questions later.  Her planet, Jupiter is the name of the god of thunder, also called Thor.  This is why her powers are based on lightning.  There is this long explanation about how wood is also related to Makoto on the Name translations page.  This is the link for her Oak Evolution power.
